Currently, Rockaway Valley School is making the best use of its existing spaces, many of which were constructed more than 50 years ago. While the school has adapted over time to accommodate evolving instructional programs and student support services, it is no longer meeting the needs of students and staff.

That is why the addition projects qualify for 34% state aid for eligible project costs – the maximum amount of state aid available for an eligible project. This significant funding opportunity reflects the state’s recognition of the need for additional instructional space and helps make addressing these needs now more financially feasible for Boonton Township taxpayers.

Building and Maintenance Improvements
Existing critical building systems are approaching or have exceeded their expected useful life. In some cases, replacement parts are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, resulting in higher maintenance costs and reduced reliability. Replacing these systems now improve operational efficiency and help address facility needs before major failures occur.
Many of these infrastructure improvements will be necessary. Completing eligible projects through a referendum allows the district to receive debt service aid from the State, helping offset costs that may not be available if the same work is funded through future operating or capital expenditures.
